I have a 03 GTI that came with the optional 17 inch 5 star rims, I have been thinking about changing to a different set of rims but I am undecided. I am going to stay at 17 inches because of all the pot holes here in Boston, am i wasting my time buying the same size rims ... should I just keep the rims and lower the car a few inches ?? Please help me decide ?

Depends what you are looking for. The stock rims are heavy... if you want better performance, you can get lighter weight 17s..

if you are looking for a different look, that's a different story. I personally went for the look and got the gunmetal 18s... i love them, they are slightly lighter that stock rims, but they effect the speed/performance..

so it really depends on what you are looking for

I just saw the Drag wheels DR7's in gunmetal I think I might head in that direction they look similar to the 20th Anniv wheels. I had 18's on my Civic and got pulled over twice because a cop saw me weaving down the road ! Thanks for your help ! one more thing is that Wasserwerks show in CT any good ??

NP... the DR7s are supposed to be light... if you can afford, keep your stock ones for dail drive, and your new rims for weekend fun/autox/drag,,

Cant answer the second question... post something in Water Werks CT section
