View Full Version : My tires are gone!

I just looked at my tires today. There's not much left. These tires have worn out soooooo fast! I put them on 10,000 miles ago, and now they look like they won't make it another 2,000. I guess that's what happens when you have a heavy car and summer tires.
Luckily for me, I can still get traction in this rainy weather: QUATTRO BABY!
I'm running on Toyo Proxes T1-S. They're nice, but they've just worn out too quickly.
I'm thinking about getting some Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
anybody have any recommendations?

either F1s or BFGs... Kumho MX is pretty good for daily driver also for their price :)

I'd personally stick to either Bridgestone or Michelin. Michelin are the higher end tires but you get a lot of mileage out of them and handle great and of course the ride quality is top notch. Bridgestone is more performance oriented and is generally made of softer rubber so it will end up performing better but may not last as long.

I was considering the Kumhos because of their price...I know 'you get what you pay for' but I will still keep them as an option

I've heard rave reviews about the SO-3s and their outstanding rain performance. That would be a nice way to go--and they're a WIDE tire for their sidewall rating

I may go with the bridgestone...hmmm...I don't think I want to drop the money for hte Michelins on my stock, 16" wheels, since any new wheels I get will be larger diameter...I just don't know when I will get new wheels. Could be now, could be a year from now...I dunno....

They're great for the price, and they will keep some money freed up for the upgrade.

get some all season tires (just cheap ones) to hold you out till you get the new rims and tires, when you do that then go all out
look at the Audi RS4 Replica Rims www.aaarims.com

I'd go with the Kuhmo[/QUOTE]I have gotten Pirelli HP's from Sears... on two cars, my 91 4cyl Won'tstang and my 96 Jetta. They were pretty good tires, no they weren't z-rated autocross tires, but they were alot better than what they were replacing. They were pretty good in the water, and seemed great on the street. Keep in mind that it was almost 4 years ago since I've owned either of those cars... check the current lineup.

I like a five spoke design...and I have expensive taste...I want Oettinger REs in 18"
I saw some 17" rims with tires for sale on Audi World for about $500. I'm thinking, I can't even buy new tires for that price, much less tires and rims
-Oh, and the tires were Pzero Rosso, but have ~13k miles or something. I requested more info and some tread depths.
we'll see how it goes

I also noticed that my front tires wear out faster than the rears (braking turning accel..) so I might just buy 2 new toyos and that should hold me for a while.

Definately dont go with Pirellis unless you dont mind buying tires often. I have Pirelli Pzero neros on my car right now and the handling and ride quality is better than excellent but after about 5k on them i gotta say that they seem to be wearing extremely fast and dont know if they'll last another year they way theyre going now.

I bought the Toyos because they're suppossed to be light and very grippy, which they are, but i heard the Nero's are suppossed to be light too.
You said they're extremely grippy?

yeah i gotta say the traction is incredible. i only autocrossed them once and had very very little understeer and never had the car skid or slide on me anywhere in the street. overall im satisfied with their handling and ride quality, but i know i wont get anymore than 20k out of them....if even that.
