I am assuming that the general ratings on the tires are not the correct pressures for me to run stretched. Any one have a clue on what I should be running at?

225/40/18 on 18x8
235/40/18 on 18x9

The only insight I have is to not inflate them to the maximum inflation pressure stamped into the side of the tire ..... unless you like doing 180's exiting a turn too fast.

180s are fun... :p
right now my ride feels a little off... im thinking i may have too much air... but before i start messing with them i was trying to get a little more info...

I set my pilot sports at 30 all the way around and it sticks very well. I believe 30 and 28 is what the recommended setting is for my car for 100mph + half load driving ... mine are stock size. That is where I would start.

180's are only fun when you are not looking at the grille of anything coming toward you afterwards.

does it fill stiff as hell when you hit a bump or some rough road.If so,they have to much in them.I set mine on 30 also.If I go any higher it rides like sh!t.I can tell a huge difference between 30 & 35.I think the max on mine say 44 psi.
Supposedely when you under inflate them they wear out quicker & get worse gas mileage!!WHO CARES RIGHT..it's all about comfort & handling :D

I run mine at 35 and they've held up fine all around. you're really not stretched all that much so i'd say 35 should do the trick but if you're paranoid and don't mind the ride getting a little harsher, bring it up to maybe 38psi

I have 225 40 18's all around with 18x7.5 inch wheels. I don't think you are stretching the tires with those tire and wheel combinations. I run 37 psig front and 36 psig rear. I like the stiffer feeling and I feel more comfortable there with the low profile tires and a little more pressure in the tires in case I hit a huge pot hole. I run up to 44 psig with my auto-X setup.

I also check my tire pressures often with a very accurate gage. I also rotate the tires every 5 kmiles for good even wear.
