View Full Version : I stumbled on a super cheap R comound (autocross or track folks look here!)
So you may or may not have heard of the Dunlop Super Sport Race R compound tire but I was very skeptical due to cheap price BUT decided to try a set since they were 1/2 the cost of normal R compounds.. Anyway, I was very pleasantly surprised. They lasted me 8 track days on my Porsche.
Right now TireRack is having a final closeout sale on the 225 40 18s which are only $115 EACH (yes, an R compound in 18" for ONLY $115 each!!!)
..get 'em while you can.. I promise you won't be disappointed (I sure wasn't)
I work with Walt at TireRack... x372
Tell him Chris recommended you.. he knows me :)
Here is the link about them in case your curious:

so many other things on the list ahead of these.....but such a good deal....

I've been running the Dunlop's since the beginning of this year for track days. Tried them for auto-X and they were not nearly as fast as my Kumho R-compounds. A agree though they've held up reasonably well. I've had to replace the front two due to my lack of camber and turn 13/14 at No Problem Raceway eating them (tough turn for us understeer guys). Trying to sell them now with my Flik Wasp 18x7.5. Is anyone interested?
$500 takes Flik Wasp 18" wheels plus the Dunlop Super Sport Race tires (still has plenty action left on them).
If you've seen my car with them you know how good they look. And they are blemish free. Never seen the street.
