Not a 5 speed guy, I just like to drive. You should see me, I am sprawled out all over the car when I drive. LOL!
Thanks man, the 4805 is the model I am after. But I still have a lot to do before I get to that. I just finished my bath room and getting ready for the kitchen. All homeowner special - if you know what I mean. FUN!

How low should I go? Should I buy lowered springs, cut my current ones or buy whole new assemblies front and rear? If so what is the brand of choice?

Yeah the Jettas trunk is real tight. But that box kicks man. It is an older model that I bought off a friend and I searched high and low for a brand new stock woofer. That think pumps.
The tires are nankang 235 40 18 with a 340 treadwear. They stick like glue. I dont have to use the brake when I make turns - lol! Unfortuantely they are really expensive, around $170 a corner. I was lucky enough to get the rims, tires and lugs for $970 off eBay.
I will check that link in a little while. Thanks.
those wheels look familair :)

thats alot of rubber. what is the width of the wheel? youre going to have to be careful lowering it. you may have rubbing issues....

I'd say some Eibach Pros would do the job

Oh, the wheel is 18X8, what do you think? These rims are going to come off in the next couple of months anyway. I will probably get the car lowered by spring. I just hate to go back to hub caps - that really hurts.

thats what i went with, good compromise between lowering & performance. i got em on all corners and the rear sway.
heres a pic, i have some others on SCR showing the wheel gap dif for eibach pro.

i have 18x8 in the front with a 225/40 tire. im lowered with H&R Sports. they are a little lower than the Eibachs. If I have 3 people in the car i rub...

that sucks, when i took the rentals to the airport, full car + 400 lb's of luggage + nyc streets no rub.
the rear looked like it was sitting on the tires.

What did you guys spend on the drop with all 4 coreners? (If you don't mind)
silverbullet
09-23-2005, 01:59 PM
The thing I reall like about the 235's on the 18X8 is the wheel and the fender are flush - if you know what I mean. I think that looks so sweet.
blackwidow_dc

mine look flush... but i have 18x9 in the rear...

+900 for eibach pro kit plus (includes struts / shocks, springs, front & rear sways) shipped: speedcustoms.com
+175 for install by pat brown
-150 for selling the front sway
______
$925

shit speedcustoms doesnt eexist anymore it was the cheapest place ever to get suspension, second cheapest place is shox.com (email them for the quotes dont go by the site). i got pricing from about 30-40 companies / quotes and those 2 were far cheaper than anyone else.

So if I go for the springs, am I going to need to make any other mods to the suspension. From what I understand I should not jsut replace the springs - is this true?
GTiRiceEater
09-24-2005, 11:25 AM
replace the spings and the shocks, preferably go with the eibach pro kit springs from PJ and find a good price on the adjustable shocks, and mine car runs smooth and you can tighten it up/loosen for auto x or 1/4 mile
silverbullet
09-24-2005, 12:06 PM
How much does a setup of adjustable cost?
BigGTI
09-24-2005, 02:12 PM
LOOKS TO ME YOUR TIRES ARE THE WRONG SIZE... IF THOSE ARE 18S you need to be running a 225-40-18... you look to have 225-45-18 or 235 40 18ss.... somethings off....
rims look good though
silverbullet
09-25-2005, 10:07 PM
hmmm, good queston, I will double check them for ya. Like I said earlier, I did get a killer deal on the package, not sure what it might be.
silverbullet
09-26-2005, 02:35 PM
Yeah, they are too big, not that the 225 would be an exact fit either, but right now with the 235's I am 1.7% off. When the odometer reads 60 I will be 1 mph off. Not too bad.
